Swimming Lessons
Splash! The La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center provides year-round swim classes for people of all ages and abilities. A free skills test is provided to help you decide which class is best for you.
Among the classes are:
Starbabies & Me – In this session, infants and toddlers are introduced to water in a joyful and loving setting. Adults who accompany participants will be trained about drowning prevention and safety. Parents and caregivers are taught how to teach their newborns and toddlers how to float, submerge, move in water, and roll over. To reach the swim skill goals, classes incorporate songs and activities. The purpose of safety skill standards is to educate parents or caregivers.
Preschool Starfish – Preschoolers will concentrate on acquiring a high level of water comfort and preparedness to swim. Children will learn functional swim skills such as trust and submersion, body positions, air recovery, rotary movement, forward propulsion, direction changing, and age-appropriate safety.
Starfish Swim School – This workshop allows participants to become acquainted with the aquatic environment. This lesson covers breathing control, floating, prone glide, back float, arm strokes, kicking, and other fundamental abilities.
