Cerritos
Cerritos (Spanish meaning “Little Hills”) is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States, and one of the Gateway Cities of southeast Los Angeles County. It was founded on April 24, 1956. The population was 49,859 in 2019. It is included in the Office of Management and Budget’s Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, California Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Cerritos has a population of 49,041 according to the 2010 United States Census. The population density per square mile was 5,537.6 (2,138.1/km2). Cerritos has 11,341 (23.1%) people of color. [14] White (16.6% non-Hispanic White), 3,388 African-Americans (6.9%), 131 (0.3%) Native American, 30,363 (61.9%) Asian, 138 (0.3%) Pacific Islander, 1,822 (3.7%) other races, and 1,858 (3.8%) mixed race. There were 5,883 residents of any race who were Hispanic or Latino (12.0%).
According to the census, 48,937 people (99.8%) lived in homes, 86 (0.2%) lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and 18 (0%) were institutionalized.
There were 15,526 families with children under the age of 18, with 5,724 (36.9%) having children under the age of 18. There were 10,843 married couples (69.8%), 1,884 (12.1%) female householders with no husband present, and 628 (4.0%) male householders with no wife present. There were 278 married couples (1.8%) and 64 gay married couples or partnerships (0.4%). Individuals made up 1,801 households (11.6%), with 1,005 (6.5%) having someone 65 or older living alone. The average number of people in a household was 3.15. There were 13,355 families (86.0% of all households), with a family size of 3.40 people on average.
There were 10,013 people (20.4%) under the age of 18, 4,065 people (8.3%) between the ages of 18 and 24, 11,134 people (22.7%) between the ages of 25 and 44, 15,158 people (30.9%) between the ages of 45 and 64, and 8,671 people (17.7%) 65 and older. The average age was 44.0 years old. There were 92.6 men for every 100 females. There were 89.6 males for every 100 females aged 18 and up.
There were 15,859 housing units with an average density of 1,790.8 per square mile (691.4/km2), with 12,711 (81.9%) owned and 2,815 (18.1%) rented. The vacancy rate for homeowners was 0.7%, while the vacancy rate for rentals was 3.1%. Owner-occupied housing units housed 39,392 individuals (80.3% of the population), while rental housing units housed 9,545 people (19.5%).
According to the US Census Bureau, the median household income in Cerritos was $91,487, with 5.5% of the population living below the federal poverty level.

Out of the total population, 5.4% of those under the age of 18 and 5.3% of those 65 and older were poor.
